Hey, I’m Mariah
As a licensed clinical social worker and queer person with years of experience in community mental health, I value social justice and a non-hierarchical approach to my work with clients. My goal is to collaborate with clients in connecting with their authentic selves, working through difficult experiences, and fostering self-compassion.
My approach is grounded in education and clinical training, but still flexible and tailored to your preferences and goals. I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with my MSW in 2023 and became a fully licensed clinical social worker in 2025. I have training in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), and trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), but I often incorporate acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and nature/expressive arts-informed techniques with clients. I am ecstatic to build a non-traditional, nature-based practice at Wolf and Willow. By connecting with animals and/or the natural world during sessions, we can create a unique, grounded, and safe place in which to learn, grow, and heal.
I work with individuals ranging in age from seven to sixty who are navigating trauma, anxiety or depression, or who are struggling with life transitions or work-life balance. As a queer therapist, I especially enjoy supporting LGBTQIA+ and neurodiverse clients in exploring their identities, understanding their unique experiences, and questioning oppressive social norms. Together we’ll work to build insight, develop practical, individualized tools, and learn strategies to promote healing.
